OldTown White Coffee

You can’t swing a dead cat without hitting an OldTown White Coffee outlet. I do not endorse swinging cats, dead or life, but you get my point.

The OldTown White Coffee outlet at the lower ground level of Queensbay Mall is a popular lunch destination, exploiting the niche market of affluent employees seeking for hawker food at premium price.

We are of no exception.

The standard dish is always the OldTown Nasi Lemak. It comes with anchovies, peanuts, cucumber slices, boiled egg and sambal sauce. This is as much as you can get before the “premium” versions with rendang chicken or fried chicken.

Another dish is the Springy Noodles With Chicken Sausage & Egg. Seriously, this is the type of food that poor college students cook in their hostel to save money. Yet, nostalgic people still pay premium price for such dishes.

You can’t go wrong with their house signature coffee, which is their titular OldTown White Coffee. Their coffee is only nice when drank hot, not ice-chilled.

Lastly, we ordered a cup of hot Lemon Tea. Just a normal cup which you can find at any coffee shop around the corner.

To summarize, the meal is just for the sake of filling the stomach. You don’t want to bring your date here.
