Menara Perdana is a commercial building at the southern end of Jalan Gurdwara. The building is best known as the Penang branch of Elken, a distributor of healthcare and beauty products.
Cafe 1 Ringgit (壹圓食堂) is a no-frills eatery on the 6th Floor. It caters to the masses with ridiculously inexpensive food.
For instance, the breakfast set consists of 2 slices of toast (spread with margarine and pandan-flavored kaya), 2 half-boiled eggs and local black coffee. The meal has an unbelievable price of RM3.50 only!
Cafe 1 Ringgit also serves mixed rice for lunch. It is possible to have a decent meal under RM5.00! Cafe 1 Ringgit is certainly a great eatery to stretch your money.
