Sun Cafe

Special thanks to Sunway Hotel Georgetown for extending this food review invitation.

Situated at the heart of George Town, Sunway Hotel Georgetown is a popular choice among tourists due to its proximity with many eateries.
Sunway Hotel Georgetown has its own eatery too - Sun Cafe Georgetown. Every Saturday evening, saddle yourself up and head over to Sun Cafe's very own Saturday Wild Wild West. A pair of saloon doors greet you as you stride in the restaurant!
During this family-oriented dinner service, waiters discard their formal attire and dress up as gunslingers. Restaurant décor and dishes are also reminiscent of the American Old West.
Animal husbandry is the cowboy way of life. Therefore, it is befitting to start the feast with several carvings of Roasted Lamb Leg.
The mutton is well roasted with a toasty flavor especially near the surface. Deeper inside, the flesh is oozing with lovely juices. The lamb can be enjoyed on its own, or with some garlic and mint sauce.
How would you like to make your own burger? Don't worry about getting your hands oily; let the cowboy do the grilling. Your task is to decide what goes into your burger sandwich!
Ingredients to choose from are pineapple rings, iceberg lettuce, onion, tomato and cucumber. Freshly-baked sesame buns are provided to complete your scrumptious treat!
The burgers are mini-sized, which is ideal for a buffet setting. Of course, you can always create your own double patty or triple patty burgers. Or go gaga by making a towering Dagwood sandwich! The only limit is your imagination... as well as the size of your jaw!
Once your had devoured your mini burger, head to the main buffet line for a helping of delectable cooked dishes. The Grilled Lamb Chop With Rosemary Sauce is a delightful treat, thanks to the lovely aromatic gravy.
If "Carnivore" is your last name, help yourself to some Beef Stew With Potato And Carrot. It's Saturday, amigo! Loosen up for a round of red meat frenzy!
For poultry, Grilled Chicken With Mushroom Gravy is available at the buffet counter. I think the chicken will be more flavorful if it were cut into smaller pieces.
Next on the line is Grilled Blackened Fish. Fish fillet are drizzled with butter and spices, then subjected to intense heat on a skillet. Each piece of fish is served with poached egg on top, making this one of the most visually appealing dishes tonight.
If you are dining with younglings, the Chicken Franks With Light Pepper Sauce is certain to appease them.
Or perhaps several pieces of Roasted Potato Wedges? Potato wedges cannot go wrong with kids.
If the meat feast has been overwhelming thus far, some greens can help to counteract the heatiness! This dish of Sautéed Carrot, Cauliflower And French Bean serves this very purpose.
Rice is not a staple crop in the Old West, but why not mix it up a little? The Butter Rice With Almond Flakes is sweetened with corn for better mouthfeel.
Apart from meats, there is also a salad bar at your disposal. Just ignore the mock cow skull beside; most salad ingredients are vegetarian in nature!
The Green Apple With Celery And Walnut Salad is an interesting marriage of crunchy and crispy ingredients.
Another lovely choice is Fusilli Pasta Salad. The corkscrew-shaped pasta is flavored with chopped onion, bell peppers and olive oil.
For meat-eaters, how about a serving of Crispy Sausage Salad?
Or perhaps some Chicken Cajun Salad?
The Beetroot Curls is an interesting choice if you are adventurous with flavors.
As for the Three Beans Salad, it comprises of kidney beans, chickpeas and corn. The mixture is not just aesthetic, but gastronomically compatible too!
For something rich and creamy, go for a cup of Wild Mushroom Soup. There is also an assortment of artisan bread with butter to enjoy.
As for desserts, check out the Texan Bread And Butter Pudding. This pudding is made from bread, butter and sugar. Apricot slices, prunes and raisins are used as garnish. This pudding is one of my favorite delicacy tonight.
Sun Cafe has a modest selection of pastries to choose from, particularly cakes and pies. The pastries are generally superior in quality in comparison to the buffet pricing. Allegedly, the pastry chef has been given a free hand to procure high-quality ingredients to produce his masterful wares.
An example is the Raspberry Mousse Cake, which is bursting with berry essences.
The Black Forest Cake is a nice choice for chocolate enthusiasts.
To satisfy your cheese craving, try a slice of Trinidad Cheese Cake.
Coffee lovers can get an extra dosage of caffeine from the Tiramisu Cake.
How about some Chocolate Layer Cake? Doesn't it make your mouth water profusely?
A slice of good old American Pecan Pie is in good order, isn't it?
For bite-sized treats, there is are assorted French pastries at conveniently small portions.
Moving on, you may satisfy your sweet tooth with some custards.
Jelly is also available, should you prefer sour over sweet taste.
Finally, tie up loose ends with fruits. Available fruits tonight are papaya, watermelon and honeydew.
As for drinks, help yourself to bottomless amount of coffee, tea and juices.
Sun Cafe's Saturday Wild Wild West is held from 7:00pm to 10:00pm. The price is RM48.00 for an adult and RM23.00 for a child. For every 3 paying adults, the 4th adult dines for free! Why not take this offer as an excuse to enjoy dinner with your amigos?
