Flamingo Café is the all-day dining restaurant of Flamingo Hotel. In case you notice that the restaurant looks different, you are absolutely right: it has been renovated recently! The dining hall is also furnished with new dining tables and chairs.

Meanwhile, customers who prefer al fresco dining can opt to be seated at dining tables next to the swimming pool. The golden sunset over the sea is a mesmerizing view to behold!

This evening, I am reviewing the Barbecue Party Meat & Seafood Buffet. This buffet dinner is held every Saturday from 7:00pm to 10:30pm. Besides barbecued meats and seafood, the buffet menu also includes chafing dishes, finger foods and desserts.

Seafood delicacies like flower crabs, prawns, baby octopus, mussels and scallops are presented over ice in a wooden canoe. These marine delicacies can be enjoyed with condiments like Tabasco sauce, Worcestershire sauce, seafood chili sauce, lemon juice and wasabi.

An outdoor barbecue station where meats and seafood are grilled. Lamb, beef, satay and sausages are barbecued over burning charcoal to be blessed with smoky aroma. My personal favorite is tandoori chicken! As for seafood, fish, squids, mussels and clams are cooked on a griddle.

Moving on to hot dishes from the kitchen, Kam Heong Flower Crab is a crowd favorite. The seasoning is an aromatic blend of spices that tantalizes the palate. Eggs Kurma is another noteworthy dish. It goes very well with rice.

I am quite impressed with the Roasted Tandoori Potato Wedges. Red chili powder not only lends its fiery color, but also provides an appreciable degree of spiciness.

Ayam Masak Merah is cooked with tomato and chili sauces. The sweet-tangy gravy is quite satisfying. However if you prefer something mild, Fried Soft Bean Curd is a good choice indeed.

Proceeding to the bread basket, help yourself to country loaves, wholemeal bread and bread rolls. Butter is provided. As for soup, today’s choices are Beef Oxtail Soup and Cream Of Pumpkin Soup. Both soups are reasonably tasty.

The salad bar provides healthy salads like Mesclun Salad, Fusilli Salad, and Mushroom & Corn Salad. Alternatively, diners can opt to mix their own salads with dressings like Italian, French and Thousand Island. As for something more local, Penang Rojak is prepared too.

Diners can indulge in cold cuts such as roast beef, chicken terrine, smoked salmon and smoked tuna. Also appealing are gourmet cheeses, deep-fried Chinese snacks and Japanese sushi.

Finally, the desserts counter presents a colorful assortment of cakes, mousses, jellies, puddings and tartlets to delight one’s sweet tooth. Be sure to check out local kuih too. Should you prefer soupy desserts, soybean milk and mung bean soup are prepared today.

The Barbecue Party Meat & Seafood Buffet is priced at RM88.00 net per adult. Children and senior citizens enjoy discounted price of RM48.00 net per person. To celebrate Flamingo Hotel’s 10th anniversary, the restaurant is offering “Buy 1 Free 1” for adult diners. So the more people you come with, the more money you save!

Directions: Traveling westbound on Jalan Tanjung Bungah, drive past the pedestrian bridge near Dalat International School. Make a U-turn at the next traffic light-controlled junction and immediately turn left to Flamingo Hotel. Flamingo Café is one level below the lobby.
