Ah Ma House

This article is part of my 2019 Sekinchan trip series.

Ah Ma House (阿嬤的家) is a bakery at the outskirts of Sekinchan. The shop occupies a wooden house on the way to PLS Group's rice mill. Arriving customers are greeted by a windmill at the store's entrance.
The bakery evokes nostalgia of yesteryear with old-fashioned furniture, appliances and ornaments. There is even a firewood stove from the time before cooking gas became prevalent.
At Ah Ma House, customers can purchase classic Chinese biscuits such as bahulu (阿嬤鸡蛋糕), kuih kapit (椰奶酥), kuih bangkit (番婆饼) and pineapple tarts (凤梨酥).
From time to time, the staff demonstrates the traditional way of preparing kuih kapit (椰奶酥).
Batter is sandwiched between iron plates and cooked over burning charcoal. Once cooked, the crêpes are removed and folded while they are still soft.
Ah Ma House has a second outlet at Pasir Penambang. The shop is within walking distance of JT Seafood.
